Soutien bénévole
Les bénévoles supportent le travail des professionnels et jouent un rôle intégral en soins palliatifs. Donner gratuitement de leur temps aux patients et soignants, les bénévoles vivent une satisfaction. Le bénévolat a plusieurs avantages pour le bénévole – il y a une amélioration dans la qualité de vie et de la santé et il y a un sentiment d’accomplissement tout simplement en donnant de leur temps pour aider les autres.
Il y a plusieurs façons que les bénévoles puissent aider dans le domaine des soins palliatifs – écouter les patients et les familles, fournir du confort pendant des moments émotionnels, prendre une bonne tasse de café ou thé avec les patients et familles. Il y a aussi l’opportunité d’aider avec des tâches comme faire un peu de cuisson faire des courses, faire la vaisselle, conduire les clients au rendez-vous au médecin, les amener faire l’épicerie ou tout simplement une promenade en auto s’il le désire.
Dépendant de vos intérêts, il sera possiblement nécessaire de faire d’autres formations avant de pouvoir faire du bénévolat.

Celebrating Our Volunteers at Bobby’s Hospice
Volunteers are an incredible part of our team at Bobby’s Hospice. They add immense value to the non-clinical care we provide to our patients and their families. We’re excited to introduce you to two of our dedicated volunteers, Laura and Rosalie, who have been with us for quite some time! Here’s what they have to say about why they chose to volunteer at Bobby’s Hospice.
Rosalie and Laura agree that it’s the “right place to be!” Many people think Bobby’s Hospice is a place of doom and gloom given that people are dealing with dying. What they and others discover when they come here is that so much of the focus of care is on living in a warm, comforting and caring environment.
“Love lives here,” they say. They marvel at how equally people are treated at Bobby’s Hospice, regardless of economic backgrounds and differences. “Everyone is loved for who they are, and it is amazing to watch families connect and share deep bonds that continue to exist beyond their time at Bobby’s Hospice.”
A special place of care with nice energy that has a positive impact on all who have the privilege to be there is how they describe Bobby’s Hospice. Coming to Bobby’s Hospice to be with others and fill up their cups is as compelling as the need to go to Tim Hortons for coffee they say with a smile and a laugh. “We love what we get back from volunteering.”
