Ann Nickerson – 2018 Inductee
Mrs. Nickerson was the NBHPCA president from 2012 to 2015. Starting in 2010, she was a member of the Board of Directors and acted as vice-president. During her mandate, she coordinated the bylaw review in support of application for charitable status. In cooperation with and supported by others, she developed several items for sale as fund raisers at the provincial level like the famous Aitkens pewter pins and earrings, dragon fly mugs, spoon holders, trinket stands, etc. She provided leadership in fund raising activities in Zones 1A and 1B, energizing Driscoll Extra Mural and TMH staff to become involved in NBHPCA activities, like tea and fashion show in conjunction with Hospice Greater Moncton, yard sale, displays at various community events, e.g., Christmas at the Coliseum, Family Physician Conference, Crandall University, etc. These allows to develop bursaries to nursing home staff to attend LEAP programs at The Moncton Hospital and bursaries for attendance at NBHPCA annual conference.
She also coordinated provincial discussions on funding for residential hospices, the first ever electronic data base for NBHPCA membership utilizing SUMAC, implementation of electronic financial records/reporting, online conference registration and payment, Face Book page. She also worked hard to obtain funding from the Order of St. Lazarus for promotional materials and above all, obtain a huge funding from the McKesson Foundation to purchase children’s books on death and bereavement for distribution to hospitals and extra-mural Programs throughout the province.
We could not pass over her countless hours of personal time soliciting, wrapping, distributing, telephoning, etc. The NBHPCA owe her a lot!
We are proud to provide her with life membership!

Pam has spent many hours working on the NBHPCA application to receive charitable status. We and she hope this will be accomplished sooner than later!
We honor her dedication to hospice palliative care and the people of New Brunswick.
Marlene MacLeod – 2015 Inductee
Marlene MacLeod, now retired from her position at The Moncton Hospital, used her many talents to bring the NBHPCA into the 21st century! She tirelessly implemented our two computerized systems for membership and accounting, and offered to enter over 500 entries in the database, as opposed to the association having to pay for the data to be input into the database. No small task.
Marlene was our “go to” person. She always seemed to have the answers on policy, meetings, agendas and most importantly, to follow-up on what we were supposed to have done from the last meeting. She also updated or invented forms to streamline our processes. She worked tirelessly to bring the association to the level it is at today, including the work to create the association’s on-line presence, including an online marketplace for payment of conference registration and membership fees.
We honor her dedication to hospice palliative care and the people of New Brunswick.
